What TeamHub is
What is TeamHub?
TeamHub is a team workspace for Nextcloud. It turns every Nextcloud Team into one clear place to work, carrying that team’s messages, decisions, presence, projects and the Nextcloud applications it already uses. It runs inside your own Nextcloud and is published under AGPL-3.0.
Who is TeamHub for?
Organisations that already run Nextcloud, or are seriously considering it, and want their teams to work in one place rather than across six applications. It is used by department managers, project managers, service teams and the people who have to find something in all of it.
What problem does it solve?
Teams have the tools and lack shared context. Decisions end up in chat threads without their reasoning, work is spread across applications, responsibilities depend on who remembers, and managers find out a project has slipped at a meeting. TeamHub organises all of it around the team responsible for it.
How is TeamHub different from Nextcloud Teams?
Nextcloud Teams is the membership feature: a group you can share a folder or a calendar with. It says who belongs. TeamHub is a separate application that gives those teams somewhere to work. They are not interchangeable, and TeamHub does not replace or change how Nextcloud Teams works.
Does TeamHub replace Talk, Files, Calendar or Deck?
No. Talk stays the source of truth for conversations, Files for documents, Calendar for events and Deck for cards. TeamHub shows them in the context of the responsible team and writes actions back to the original application. Nothing is copied, and turning TeamHub off leaves all of them exactly as they were.
How it fits
Where is TeamHub hosted?
Inside your own Nextcloud, on your own infrastructure. TeamHub is an application you install from the Nextcloud App Store; its data lives in your Nextcloud database alongside everything else on the instance.
Is TeamHub available as a hosted service?
No, by design. There is no TeamHub SaaS and no platform to sign up to. If you would rather somebody else ran the infrastructure, that is a conversation with a Nextcloud provider, and we are happy to have it with you.
Is TeamHub open source?
What does TeamHub need to run?
Nextcloud 33 to 35 and PHP 8.1 to 8.5. It installs from the App Store like any other application, and needs no additional infrastructure, no separate database and no outbound connectivity.
Does TeamHub use telemetry?
Telemetry is decided by licence state, not by a preference. An unlicensed instance sends one anonymous aggregate a day. Any active licence, including a trial, switches it off from the moment the key is installed. There is no toggle, because the licence already answers the question. The report carries counts and versions, never user IDs, names, message bodies, file contents or full URLs. The full field list is published.
What it costs
How much does TeamHub cost?
Community is free, under AGPL-3.0, with no seat limit. A production licence is €450 a year for 1 – 50 seats, €850 a year for 51 – 100 seats, and quoted from From €8.40 per seat per year above that. All prices exclude VAT and any applicable taxes.
What is included in Community, and what needs a licence?
Community is the full base application: the team home, messages, decisions, presence, the timeline, custom tabs and every Nextcloud integration, with no seat limit. In exchange it shows in-app feedback prompts and TeamHub branding, sends one anonymous daily aggregate, and keeps the gated modules locked. A licence unlocks those modules, turns the application quiet and gives you direct support. The full comparison is on the pricing page.
Which modules need a licence?
My Work and What’s new, Advanced Projects, bulk creation, import and export, file reviews, Services, the OpenProject integration, the compliance centre, and quiet mode. Everything else is in the free base application.
How is a seat counted?
One seat is one unique active Nextcloud account that belongs to at least one Team on the licensed instance. Somebody in five teams counts once. An account in no team counts nothing. Guest, federated and bot accounts count when they are team members; disabled accounts do not. The current figure is shown on the License tab in the TeamHub admin settings, computed the same way the licence compares against it.
Is there a trial?
Yes. Every instance can have one full 30-day trial: the complete product, every gated module, no seat limit. It is requested by e-mail from the License tab in the admin settings, which fills in the instance identifier for you, and we issue the key by hand. There is no automated trial endpoint, because the application never contacts us.
What happens if we do not renew?
Nothing is deleted. For 14 days after expiry the licence is in grace: existing Advanced teams keep working normally and creating new ones is blocked. After that the instance soft-locks, meaning project surfaces on existing Advanced teams become read-only and the gated modules stop being available, with all of the data retained and readable. The base application keeps working on every team indefinitely. Installing a fresh key restores everything immediately. A trial has no grace period and soft-locks the moment it expires.
Does TeamHub call home to check our licence?
No. The licence key is verified inside your own instance, offline. TeamHub does not contact us to validate a licence, renew it, count seats or report compliance, so an air-gapped deployment is a supported deployment.
Who is behind it
Who makes TeamHub?
TeamHub is made by Doek Works, a sole proprietorship (eenmanszaak) registered in The Netherlands under Chamber of Commerce number 42169291, owned by Jantinus Doek. Doek Works is the party that signs the agreement, sends the quotation and the invoice, and provides support.
Is TeamHub affiliated with Nextcloud GmbH?
No. TeamHub is an independent third-party application published on the Nextcloud App Store. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or supported by Nextcloud GmbH.
How actively is it maintained?
TeamHub has been on the Nextcloud App Store since 20 April 2026 and is currently at version 4.13.0, shipping continuously. Release notes and the changelog are public, and so is the issue tracker.
Can TeamHub support a Microsoft 365 replacement?
It covers one row of that comparison: Teams as the place a team works. Nextcloud covers mail, files, documents, chat and boards; TeamHub adds the shared workspace around the responsible team. It is a component of a Nextcloud-based replacement, not the replacement itself. The full comparison is set out here.
How do we request a quote?
Through the quote form, which asks for the company details a quotation needs and comes back with a fixed figure. Quotations are valid for 30 days. If you would rather discuss whether TeamHub fits before asking for a number, start with a conversation.
We are a Nextcloud provider. Can we offer TeamHub to our clients?
We are open to that conversation. There is no formal partner programme with published tiers yet, so rather than describe one we do not run, tell us what you need from it. Details for providers are here.
Still deciding?
The fastest way through the remaining questions is usually a conversation about your own teams rather than more reading.
